…..Meditating & Zipping it!

Like my wife, Diana, I too have the same exercises. I stared reading the devotional since February of this year, not going to lie off and on. I truly feel that is was written just for me. I may be thinking about something or going through something and then, BOOM! “Wow, God is talking to me”. I also ready another daily bread but this one as a short story. I read it early in the morning, at work, before I start to work. The devotionals are like a energy drink that boost me up all day. I sometime feel bad because I read these two things early in the morning and then I don’t remember what I read. I need to meditate more on the word of God. Try to thinks of ways how to apply it on my every day life.

For my second exercise I’m going to just ZIP IT! Mama always said; “ If you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say nothing at all”. “He who guards his mouth and his tongue, Guards his soul from troubles“- Proverbs 21:23. I’m a person who see the bad in people, and take criticism personal. Lately I have been applying(zip it) this at home and at work. I cant hold it all the time but its getting better thanks to Diana. She has been telling me to think more positive, that all those bad words comes from the heart. So now, when I get provoked I just bike my tongue and pray to God to give me the strength to over come it.

I will be praying for you. That God gives us men the discipline we need in life to be more like our Savior. We have to solely rely on Him. And draw strength from God. We can do it!

Two suggestions for remembering what you read throughout the day are to either jott down a few words that will remind you of what you read on a 3×5 card that you can stick in your pocket, the other is to think of a word that reminds you and then try to have that one word on your mind.

I love the idea of “zipping it”! But you are also right that our words flow from our heart, so not only do we need to zip it, but we all need to ask God to change our heart so that we think and feel the way he does.
